Blazing Red Hunting Blazer
Made-to-measure only, book an appointment in Paris or Milan.
The red blazer is closely linked to fox hunting, a historic practice that dates back to at least the 16th century in England. During these hunts, hunters wore coloured jackets to facilitate recognition between members of the group and ensure visibility. Also known as ‘hunting pinks’, they were made from fairly hard-wearing materials and were slightly longer than conventional jackets, with a deep central slit to make it easier to mount a horse. The collar was often a contrasting colour and material, usually smooth black velvet, and the buttons were metal with the family crest engraved on them.
We've decided to offer the classic version of this hunting jacket, cut from a heavy worsted flannel in a reddish-orange hue. The purple lining helps to intensify the red hue and gives it a bloodier look.
