Origin of the fabric and pattern
This coat is made from wool cloth enriched with camel hair. This natural fibre, taken from the undercoat of Bactrian camels native to Central Asia, has been renowned for centuries for its warmth and softness. Camel hair was imported into Europe in the 19th century and became highly sought-after for overcoats, particularly in its distinctive camel colour, which quickly became a classic in men's wardrobes.
Inspiration for the silhouette
The design is based on the traditional Chesterfield coat, which appeared in England around 1840 and is considered the first modern coat for gentlemen. Designed to replace more formal frock coats, it is distinguished by its straight cut, notched lapels and concealed fastening, symbols of sobriety and elegance. In the 1920s and 1930s, it became a must-have for businessmen and remains, even today, one of the most versatile coats in the male wardrobe.
