The Chesterfield coat is a classic coat born in the 19th century and named after George Stanhope, 6th Earl of Chesterfield. The Chesterfield coat is characterized by its long, straight, calf-length cut, often with a velvet lapel, and can have a single- or double-breasted fastening. Originally made from wool, in shades of gray, black or dark blue, it was devoid of excessive decorative elements, making it ideal for city and formal occasions.
It became popular among British high society, then spread to Europe and the United States, becoming a symbol of urban and formal elegance throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
We've decided to pay homage to this classic model by crafting it in beautiful forest-green English tweed, with a contrasting purple smooth velvet collar. We produce our coats down to the calf to maintain a dramatic yet slender silhouette.
