The Overcheck pattern is a classic country garment in Britain and beyond. Its origins lie in tartan and tweed, two warm, hard-wearing fabrics ideal for extended outdoor activities. These pants are designed to accompany a country tuxedo, with a black satin side braid typical of evening pants. The waistband measures 6 cm in height and features two side tabs for waist adjustment without the need for an additional belt. In addition, inside buttons for the shoulder straps enable it to be worn at the ideal height under a smooth velvet tuxedo jacket.
We fully double the front and back of our winter pants for three reasons: first, to give the pants a smooth, heavy fall; second, to protect against the cold Highland winds; and third, so that the pants slide easily over our high socks when you stand up, without the wool clinging unpleasantly to the socks.
