Viscose moiré pants

These pants are cut from magnificent moiré viscose grosgrain, a fabric with ancient origins: in the 17th century, it was used in silk to create the garments of the French aristocracy (and not only). The effect was created by pressing together two layers of fabric that were then still damp, using heated and engraved rollers, which created the characteristic water effect. The Catholic Church uses this fabric extensively for liturgical vestments, in some cases to emphasize the noble origin or otherwise of a follower.
We decided to give these pants a fitted silhouette at the hips and knees, but flared at the end. The pockets are “wallets” to allow a better grip at hip level; a classic side pocket could open with this grip.
We double up the front and back of our winter pants for three reasons: firstly, the pants fall down smoothly and heavily; secondly, we don't want the icy Highland winds to brush against your legs; thirdly, by doing so, the pants will slide over our high socks when we move from sitting to standing, without the wool clinging unpleasantly to the sock.
