Whipcord fabric has its origins in the late 19th century, when it was mainly used for military uniforms and workwear because of its incredible strength. Its name comes from its resemblance to a whipcord, due to its very tight diagonal weave. Originally made from wool or cotton, it was prized for its ability to withstand wear and weather. It's the best choice we could make for these trousers inspired by classic horse hunting attire. A wide placket gives the leg of these trousers an elegant fullness while remaining snug around the waist.
We fully line our winter trousers front and back for three reasons: the first is the smooth, heavy fall of the trousers, the second is to prevent the icy Highland winds from hitting your legs, and the third is that it allows the trousers to slide over our high socks when we go from sitting to standing, without the wool catching in an awkward way.
