Fratelli MdC x Sky Blue Magazine

Based on the fundamental elements of luxury-high quality and craftsmanship, rarity, and the creation of fantasies - Sky Blue - Gentleman's Review presents a timeless masculine style for the contemporary sartorialist. Published internationally once a year and based in Paris, it invites the modern man into an urban reverie through classic tailoring and high-end fashion, with a seductive spirit.
Sky Blue stands out with a unique visual presence in today’s print media landscape. It also celebrates the power of words by publishing works from numerous authors, offering essays and fictional stories that resonate with the magazine’s vision.
With a timeless style and attitude designed to spark curiosity and leave a lasting impression, Sky Blue embodies a distinctly different vision of men’s fashion in today’s newsstands.

In 2019, Sky Blue was founded by James V. Thomas, driven by a desire to challenge the conventions of mainstream magazines, which were largely focused on sportswear and entertainment. Rather than follow these trends, he aspired to create a publication that—beyond its visual elegance—would captivate readers with impactful, thought-provoking content.
Originally from the outskirts of Philadelphia, James moved to Paris at the age of 18 to study fashion—a journey that led him to discover his true calling. Today, he travels the world in search of evocative nostalgia, timeless beauty, unmatched craftsmanship, and, of course, the perfectly crafted cocktail.
The Project
In collaboration with Fratelli Mocchia di Coggiola and Sky Blue – Gentleman’s Review, we selected the finest dupioni silks to create a jacket that is both elegant and effortlessly casual. Inspired by the refined taste and extravagance of André Leon Talley—his love for pastel-toned dupioni silks, his innate sense of grandeur—this piece is a tribute to elegance, the power of style, and the belief that beauty should always be expressed boldly.

DUPIONI SILK AND THE LEGACY OF ANDRÉ LEON TALLEY
Dupioni silk is a fabric created by weaving two silk cocoons spun simultaneously, resulting in irregular threads and a surface marked by fine natural slubs. It is characterized by its dense structure and crisp lightness, which give garments a natural drape and body. Originating from India and China, dupioni silk has traditionally been used for ceremonial attire and formalwear.
André Leon Talley was an iconic figure in the fashion culture of the 20th and 21st centuries. Born in 1948 in Washington, D.C., and raised in racially segregated North Carolina, he found in fashion a space for expression and emancipation. After studying at Brown University, he began his career at Interview alongside Andy Warhol, later becoming creative director and then editor-at-large at Vogue US, working closely with Anna Wintour.
Talley is celebrated for his avant-garde vision, his sophisticated use of language, and for bringing African-American culture into the upper echelons of fashion. He often wore caftans and tunics made from luxurious fabrics—particularly dupioni silk—which helped shape his monumental and theatrical public image.
This piece pays tribute to his aesthetic and spirit—a nod to a man who transformed clothing into a cultural gesture.
